… and once words are out there on their own — printed or, even worse, spoken — who knows what they will actually accomplish? Well, we try to know, or at least we strive to predict the impact our words will have.

When you simply translate words from one language to another, countless faux amis can easily lead you astray. Both the source and target languages carry within the translator an immense baggage of culture, tradition, personal history, and much more. Bringing all of this together to determine the most effective approach is a demanding intellectual task — one that our team has trained to perform naturally and instinctively.

Le nostre regole d'oro

Chiarezza

Sembra ovvio, ma non lo è. Comunicare in modo chiaro richiede l’uso di tutti i sensi. Anche la gestualità e la postura fanno parte del linguaggio e possono avere effetti determinanti. Un linguaggio del corpo in contrasto con quello delle parole rischia di inficiare il risultato del lavoro. L’interprete deve impersonare le parti per tutta la durata dell’interpretariato ponendosi con empatia al loro posto per utilizzare linguaggio verbale e gesti in modo da sovrapporsi perfettamente ai soggetti interpretati.

Affidabilità

Oltre a esprimersi in modo chiaro e fedele, interpreti e traduttori sono tenuti alla confidenzialità assoluta. Devono esserci senza esserci, scrivendo ciò che leggono e dicendo ciò che sentono rispettando anche il “non detto”. Tutto quello che “sentiamo” i nostri interpreti “lo dimenticano” a fine servizio. I testi che traduciamo sono eliminati dai nostri sistemi una volta chiusa la pratica. Per i clienti che ci chiedono di conservarne una copia, il salvataggio avviene su dispositivi offline per la durata di tempo richiesta. Ciò che resta invece è l’esperienza. Interpreti e traduttori apprendono e crescono “strada facendo” personalizzando e integrando le proprie conoscenze con quelle dei propri interlocutori.

Inspirazione

A volte, un testo fedelmente tradotto “stona” nell’altra lingua come se mancasse qualcosa… L’interprete o traduttore sa cogliere le criticità tecniche o culturali del discorso e le risolve in modo naturale senza interferire con lo stile e la forma originale. Altre volte, invece l’interprete e il traduttore possono essere fonte di ispirazione per ottimizzare il discorso allineando le discrepanze e armonizzando le differenze culturali tra le parti.

Le diversità culturali a volte rappresentano ostacoli significativi nella comunicazione tra due o più soggetti. Ma anche i contrasti hanno il loro fascino, basta solo gestirli. Interpreti e traduttori non si accontentano di “ripetere” in altre parole, sono anche il filtro per gestire nodi e aspettative del discorso. Per ultimo, gli interpreti di trattativa offrono ad ambo le parti quel secondo di tempo in più (mentre traducono) per elaborare meglio i pensieri prima di rispondere.

Educated in the United States and graduated from the University of Bologna, Giuseppina Boiardi has been working as a freelance interpreter and translator since 1985. In 1987, she earned a Master’s degree in International Marketing from the former European Training Institute and, the following year, obtained her professional certification as an interpreter from the Province of Reggio Emilia. In 2000, she founded FABULA S.r.l., a company based in Reggio Emilia specializing in communication, translation, and linguistic mediation services, where she currently serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Since then, her career has been marked by continuous international activity, collaborating with companies and institutions across Europe, the United States, and Asia. Over the years, she has accompanied professionals and delegations in settings ranging from trade fairs and exhibitions to technical meetings and complex business negotiations.

Mr. Luca Rossi

Luca has been an associate partner for five years, and we are currently setting up a spin-off company in France that will take over operations in France and Belgium. He has an in-depth understanding of French and international human rights and is particularly skilled at working in multicultural environments. Luca provides outstanding support in training, educational, and public relations activities. Fluent in several languages, he oversees the daily coordination of our professional service network in France.

Mr. Sean Kelly

Sean Kelly holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Geneva and the Swiss Federal College. He is a member of the Swiss Association of Financial Analysts and Fund Managers. With over 27 years of experience in the financial industry, he has served as Vice President at Banque Privée Edmond de Rothschild in Geneva and Paris, where he covered sectors including commodities, gold, and oil. As Director and Head of Equity Research at Bank SCS Alliance in Geneva and Nassau, he co-managed approximately USD 75 million in assets. Sean also gained extensive sales experience at SG Warburg Securities (later UBS Warburg), where he worked with several globally renowned institutional investors. His expertise today extends to blockchain technology and its financial applications.

Mr. Anup Sharma

Anup is an Investment Management professional with over 11 years of experience in risk management, capital allocation, and the interpretation of economic trends. He holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing and has extensive experience in traded derivatives across major global exchanges. Throughout his career, Anup has held positions such as Senior Manager, AVP, and Senior Consultant. In addition to investment management, he has contributed to developing and implementing risk management practices within firms and has trained and supervised managers for more than eight years. He currently works as an independent business consultant. Alongside his consulting work, he trains candidates in research — guiding them from problem identification to advanced analytical methodologies.

Mr. Siddhartha Shankar

Siddhartha holds a Master’s degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Over the past 23 years, he has trained more than 50 algorithm designers who have gone on to work with leading firms such as Credit Suisse, Bank of America, and FF. He has served on the boards of an Asset Management Company and a Hedge Fund based in Guernsey, and has also acted as an advisor to a Swiss oil trading firm. His deep expertise in global economics — particularly its correlation with politics, central bank policies, economic affairs, and investment strategy — has made him a frequent guest on major financial news outlets such as CNBC. Siddharth currently serves on the boards of a Swiss and a Singapore-based management and software consulting company.

Graduated in Mechatronic Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1991, Stanley Qiu obtained his certification as a parliamentary interpreter in 2003 from Xujiahui Industrial and Commercial College and Shanghai Foreign Studies University. After several professional experiences with companies such as Shanghai Tractor and Automobile Company, Shanghai Konglong Automobile Service Company, Shanghai Maqiao Industrial Corporation Automobile Service Company, and SINOPEC Jinshan Petrochemical Company, he joined FABULA as a translator, later taking on the role of Manager of the Local Unit in China.
